7 Habits
When the acorns graduate from Junior school with attributes, attitudes and skills essential for a learner, we believe that they are ready for effectiveness. We have integrated the 7Habits of Highly Effective People as propounded by Dr Stephen Covey to lay a path for their personal and public effectiveness.
A Day With the Leader
Silver Oaks The Leadership School aims at developing a leader in every young student who is going through the educational realms of our school. To prepare a young person who will make a difference in the ever growing society we do our best to give them positive and progressive experiences. While making best use of the world around us to enlighten them on how the world works, we also realized that we need to provide them with a first - hand experience with people who lead this world. People who make a difference with their leadership qualities and contributions to take this world a few steps ahead.
We have initiated a program called ‘A day with the Leader’ wherein one student from Grade X gets to spend a full working day with a leader in his/her office and learn different leadership styles practically.
How different challenges are dealt with people relations, range of work activities and the dynamism required to deal with it-all such nuances of work life challenges that only leaders handle-is the experience we want to provide our budding leaders with.
Democracy in the school
Living in the world's largest democracy and enjoying the liberty, equality and fraternity, we believe that our acorns have to be trained
from a young age into democratic ideals. Teaching them democracy as a concept may be a little abstract so we found a way of making
it real to them by making them participate in the running of the school. Training them into leadership skills and responssible roles along
with accountability is the objective behind having a student council.
When the new session starts in April, Elections are conducted for the student council. Canvassing, election symbols, public speeches,
posters, voting age, ballot box, polling, election supervisors, mark on the index finger, counting before the candidates, declaration of
results, swearing in ceremony are all the tools we use to teach democracy and electoral system at a micro level.
The council organizes the events, functions and regular procedings of the school with immense sincerity.
They represent the image of the school at all times.
Leader In Me
Leadership can be in-born, developed or imbibed. Different situations make people into leaders. A person who can direct himself is a leader and a person who can lead himself and others is also a leader.
We don’t need big movements or revolutions to show who is a leader. Even a simple step like grooming oneself is leadership, helping others to lead themselves is leadership and an initiative like clean n green campaign is also leadership. Leadership comes in different ways and dimensions.
We in the School are aiming to groom students into young people who can first lead themselves and then others and thereby the Country.
Through Independence Day celebrations, we want to teach our students that there are leaders within our known community also. They have learnt about the leaders of the world but they know little about the leadership qualities their parents possess. We want them to discover that the people they meet everyday are also leaders in some way.
So we have taken the initiative of teaching our students that leaders exist amongst the parents also.
We are identifying leaders from among the parents community through a structured program of selection and give due recognition to these ‘Leaders amongst Parents’ on the 15th August.
NCC
NCC- National Cadet Corps- Air NCC- has been introduced into the School since 2009-2010 session.
